Ragdolls!
Ragdolls are an extraordinary breed!  First started by a breeder named Ann Baker, in Riverside, California, in the 1960s. Baker’s foundation stock consisted of Josephine, a domestic longhair whose white coat concealed the genes for either a seal mitted or black tuxedo pattern, and various other longhaired cats of unknown ancestry that she owned or found in her neighborhood. Baker selected for cats with gentle, placid personalities, large size, and beautiful long coats  The result was a cat she called the Ragdoll, for its propensity to flop happily into the arms of anyone who picked it up. His floppy, relaxed good nature gives the Ragdoll his name. He is a big, gentle cat with striking blue eyes who can get along with everyone, including other animals, traits that make him adaptable to almost any home. His semi-longhaired coat, which comes in a variety of patterns and colors, and is easy to groom When it comes to grooming, the Ragdoll coat doesn’t mat easily, thanks to lack of an undercoat, but brush or comb it thoroughly a couple of times a week to keep it healthy, beautiful and tangle-free. Expect a Ragdoll cat coat to shed in spring and fall.
The large, affectionate Ragdoll goes limp with pleasure when you cuddle him in your arms, the trait that led to his name. He’s a big kitty, with males ranging up to 20 pounds, females slightly smaller, starting at 10 pounds and going up to 15 pounds.
Today the semi-longhaired cats come in four patterns (mitted, van, bicolor and colorpoint) and six colors (seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red and cream) for a variety of looks in the breed. The cats mature slowly, reaching their full size when they are four years old.
Ragdolls love being outdoors, however due to their sweet & trusting nature, they should never be left to roam outside alone. I recommend a fully enclosed area or harness and leash.
Never declaw your Ragdoll!
Ragdolls are friendly and will greet your guests at the door!
